About Me

Hi,

I am Md Shafiqul Islam, a Ph.D. Candidate at the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department of Virginia Tech. I am currently working under the supervision of Dr. Sol Lim, with a focus on developing and evaluating systems using qualitative and quantitative approaches. As a graduate research assistant at the Occupational Ergonomics and Biomechanics Laboratories of Virginia Tech, I conduct research in the field of Human Factors Engineering, applying statistical and simulation tools to optimize the design and performance of human-machine systems. I aim to focus on my research in human factors, extended reality, human-AI-robot-teaming, the future of workforce, and assistive technology.

Previously, I obtained my MEng in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, and my BSc in Industrial and Production Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. I have also gained valuable industry experience as a production engineer at Avery Dennison, where I implemented quality control and process improvement initiatives, resulting in increased efficiency and reduced waste.

I am passionate about advancing the knowledge and practice of human factors engineering and contributing to the enhancement of human well-being and performance in various domains.

My hobbies and interests include traveling, reading, watching movies, and exploring different types of Food. I also play Soccer and Cricket.
